Abstract
Malaria is a protozoan parasitic infection caused by the Plasmodium genus that targets red blood cells. Malaria cases are prevalent in subtropical and tropical regions and can lead to fatal outcomes. Accurate malaria diagnosis is essential to ensure reliable methods and prevent errors in laboratory examination. Malaria detection methods include microscopic examination, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs). Combining these methods can improve malaria diagnostic accuracy. This article examines the role of various laboratory examination methods in detecting malaria and compares microscopy, PCR, and RDTs.
